N150 Blue Blog – 2016 Week 9: Off to the IRA National Championships.

Folks …
 Beginning Friday, the Blue Crew squads will take to Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, NJ for the 115th Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship (IRAs). N150 and Y150 each will enter a lightweight varsity eight along with a lightweight four with coxswain and a lightweight four without coxswain. Navy and Yale HWs will compete in varsity 8+ [24 entries], second varsity 8+ [19], third varsity 8+ [17] and varsity 4+ [28]. Navy Plebes will compete in a six-boat final only in MF8+. In men’s lightweight events, the first three finishers in Friday’s heats will advance to Sunday’s Grand Finals with the rest competing in petites. Competition in ML8+ includes the top seven from EARC Sprints plus 9th ranked Mercyhurst University, winner at the Dad Vail Regatta. In ML4-, eight entries consist of the same EARC squads plus Georgetown. The ten-boat field in ML4+ also includes entries from Temple University and Wisconsin, who typically do not participate in lightweight competition. For heavyweight events, heats and repechages are scheduled for Friday, semi-finals for Saturday and finals on Sunday. Racing will follow 2016 IRA Progressions depending upon the number of entries in each event ______________________________________________________ Real time streaming of all IRA events, all 3 days, will be available on YouTube via USRowing.
